Butterflies are back!

One of the drawbacks of being a card designer is that you always have to be one step ahead of the season.  We are only two weeks past New Year and already I am planning and making cards for Mother's Day.  Now I have the website up and finished, with a cart system in place that I am happy with, lots of my previous designs can be suitable for Mother's Day.  If you haven't visited the card section of the site, you can find it here!

I think that this butterfly design is one of the most versatile I have.  I have had such positive feedback about it- mostly about how striking it is, and how happy the recipients are.  But what I like most is how one design can be used for literally ANY occasion.  Love, sympathy, weddings, anniversaries, new babies, graduation, good luck.  I haven't come across an occasion that this little gem can't be adapted too!  Patterns, names, dates, memories can all be included on the wings, and on top of that text can be added if necessary.

I must admit that I still love to make these, never getting bored with seeing the design come to life!  It is a few years old now, but yet it still feels fresh and modern, which I think is great, as the card wont date and the recipient can keep it out on display for many years - as some already have!

From this design a few other butterfly shapes have emerged, and these, although a little more tricky, are just as enjoyable to make.

The design also translates into frames, and these make amazing gifts for special occasions, it is so nice to know that these frames go out to people during precious moments in their life. They are however, ridiculously hard to photograph!!

I now have four types and sizes of butterfly punches to make these, and this year I plan to find an even larger punch or die, so that I can scale these up even more!
